Adding a commute to my daily routine has been interesting. As someone who used to have a commute of 3 minutes, not even long enough for a good car concert, to a now 40-minute commute, it has brought about a lot of random thoughts.
Including the one today where a song came on and the idea for this series started.
So, without further adieu.
Here we go.
LFO Summer Girls was literally my theme song of high school, and not because of what the song was actually written about. I first claimed it for my hatred of Chinese food, love of Cherry Coke and then convinced my parents to find an Abercrombie and Fitch store, so I could have something to wear. Little did I know the only thing I could afford in that store, and that would fit anyone with a slight curve, was a men’s t-shirt that you could barely read the logo on. This is one of my constant reminders that teenager’s brains are still learning how to function properly.
Since MoDOT is currently resurfacing each lane at a time I began to wonder what it was like for the trucks and different pieces of equipment felt going up and around some of the curves. Like, the flat road would be pretty boring, but then all of a sudden it’s like a rollercoaster and they’re going like 2 mph, so do they worry about rolling over? I do sometimes. But, that can turn into an entire series of its own!
My windshield REALLY needs washed/cleaned/the bugs scraped off. It’s gross. However, the only time I think about cleaning the windshield is while I’m driving, and that’s not the most opportune time to clean a windshield.
The sunroof is amazing and literally gives me life. There is nothing better than a day to drive the entire way home with the sunroof open. It’s perfection.
There was some very high-level marketing used on the back of a semi-trailer. It said something about “steer your career towards greatness”, or something to that effect, and used cattle steer heads as graphics and had a QR code and everything. My want-to-be marketing brain was just in awe. It was chef’s kiss.
So that’s that.
I’m sure I’ll have more tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that which is why I thought this would be a great series to practice writing more consistently.
Until next time.
I have included a picture of my grasshopper friend that joined me for part of a commute last week. When I was visiting my Grandpa Moore’s grave one time as I left a grasshopper jumped on my car and stayed with me until I got on the highway. He continues to show up from time to time.
